As Co-Chair of the Student Affiliates of Seventeen, I held a position on the Society of Counseling Psychology's (Division 17 of the American Psychological Association) Executive Board, and collaborated much with the Presidents and Executive Board members (for more information on my work with SAS, click here). I have also been fortunate to have several opportunities to formally get involved with other SCP initiatives, however.

As a member of the student planning committee, I helped to develop and implement student-relevant programming .
SCP Working Group on the Transition from Student to Early Career Psychologist (Committee Member)
The Student-to-Early Career Professional transition is a point at which both the Division and APA often lose members, and individuals become disengaged from these organizations. As a member of this working group representing students, I worked to identify what SAS and SCP have already done to recruit and retain student members in SCP, identify what we could be doing differently or better, and offer suggestions for future directions with regard to better meeting the needs of all student members, and creating a professional home for students.
SCP Special Task Group on Counseling Psychology Undergraduate Education (Committee Member)
It is unknown to what extent undergraduate education in counseling psychology is available to, and utilized by, undergraduate students. This STG sought to assess this.
SCP Website Re-Design Committee
In January of 2012, SCP decided to redesign their website, www.div17.org. As a committee member, I provided feedback on designs and content, helped to reorganize the student content, and have helped in publicizing the new website. The new website was unveiled in September of 2012.
